Bookwriter & Lyricist

Chandra McClelland is a graduate of the Tisch Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program at New York University, where she studied as a bookwriter-lyricist. The Lorelei, her thesis show with collaborator Micah Joel, received an Equity reading on April 17th, 2012. Lady of Angria, a one-act musical also written with Joel, received both an Equity reading and a reading at the Duplex cabaret in downtown New York.  She is currently working on a suite of fairy-tale operas with collaborator Willem Oosthuysen, as well as a one-act adaptation of Washington Irving's "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" with Zayre Ferrer, Laura Lancaster, and Micah.  Chandra has an M.A. from NYU’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study, where she studied methods of critically “reading” musical theatre, and a B.A. from Kenyon College. She is originally from Arizona.  Member of the Dramatist's Guild of America.


Micah Joel has written the full-length, original musicals Me and Violet Brooks (2010), Addie and Boots (2009), Like a Fairy Tale (2008) and Riffraff (2007), which he directed at Silver Lake Theatre in Everett, Washington. In addition, he has written the plays The Churmenya Fiasco (2008) and A Persian Conspiracy (2007) which were also produced at SLT. The Lorelei, written with Chandra McClelland, was developed as a thesis project for his MFA in the Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. He is currently working on Fish in a Tree with Janine Robledo which is being workshopped in stages by Three Act Theatre Company. Micah is also writing a children's musical, Drella, with Laura Lancaster. Member of The Dramatists Guild of America. Micah is a freelance videographer and photographer.
